Job Description

Job Brief:
Join the Security Engineering and Architecture team as a Guardium Support Engineer. This role involves supporting mission-critical application database activity monitoring and data protection applications. The team implements and supports SaaS and internal security applications.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Provide hands-on engineering expertise for on-prem Guardium infrastructure, including both VM and physical appliances.
  • Provide hands-on engineering expertise for in-GCP SecuPi infrastructure, including Management Server and enforcers/agents.
  • Streamline installation and BAU tasks via automation and process enhancements.
  • Provide engineering support for systems security, including SSH keys and certificate renewals.
  • Embrace mentorship and training from senior engineers.
  • Provide continuous improvement ideas to reduce expenses and/or improve efficiency.
  • Apply recommended information security standards when installing and maintaining software, and seeking validation.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, specifications, and project artifacts for systems support.

Required Qualifications:
  • Ability to perform design, installation, performance testing, patching, troubleshooting, and daily engineering support of a database activity monitoring software.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices for designing, implementing, and maintaining database activity monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with IBM Guardium and/or SecuPi database activity monitoring software.
  • Proficient in developing all forms of reporting, alerting, and SIEM integration.
  • 4+ years of experience working in a large-scale IT organization.
  • Ability to work within a formal Change Control system (planning, documenting, scheduling, and implementing).
  • Detailed knowledge of major database platforms such as Oracle, SQL Server, DB2/UDB, and CloudSQL.
  • Detailed knowledge of major OS platforms such as Windows and Unix/Linux.
  • Strong knowledge of GCP, Helm charts, Kubernetes/distributed GKE, GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, and Terraform scripts.
  • Experience with Ansible and/or other automation tools.
  • Ability to work independently, leading meetings with application and development teams to discover and document detailed requirements.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and implement monitoring tools and agent installations.
