Job Description

Job Summary
The Senior Project Manager leads large, high-priority projects impacting multiple Lines of Business (LOB) and functional areas, often requiring significant resources and high levels of functional integration. This role involves taking projects from the original concept through final implementation using the Standard Project Lifecycle, interfacing with all affected areas including end users, distributors, and vendors. The Senior Project Manager ensures adherence to quality standards, provides guidance to less experienced project managers, and recommends alternative solutions. Effective presentation to all levels of management is essential.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Project Leadership: Lead one or more complex projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, including directing third-party resources and virtual teams. Projects often impact multiple LOBs, may have executive sponsorship, and can span several years.
  • Business Case Development: Support business case development, perform project registration/consolidation/prioritization, create funding plans, and administer project pipeline checkpoints to drive delivery and resolve bottlenecks.
  • Scope and Deliverables Management: Define and manage project scope, changes, objectives, requirements, deliverables, and value propositions that support diverse business goals and interests.
  • Project Planning: Develop integrated project plans, identify and manage project dependencies and critical paths, and track/report project milestones and status.
  • Client Impact: Ensure potential impacts on external client experience are addressed in project solutions/plans.
  • Resource Management: Estimate resources needed, track utilization, assess additional staff/vendor needs, manage on/off-boarding, and monitor vendor performance.
  • Budget Management: Draft and submit project budget proposals, recommend budget changes, and conduct cost forecasting and tracking, including variance reporting.
  • Issue and Risk Management: Identity, track, escalate, and resolve issue conflicts, perform impact analysis and prioritization, manage dependencies, and escalate risk with corrective actions.
  • Project Standards Compliance: Tailor methods and metrics, administer configuration management/version control, adhere to project policies/standards, perform project assessments, coach/mentor teams, and manage deliverable reviews/signoffs.
  • Communication: Lead communication planning, execution, and reporting with project team members and key stakeholders.
  • Change Management: Support the development and implementation of change management plans, including communication and training.
  • Knowledge Transfer: Manage documentation and knowledge transfer to “business as usual” functions, and conduct “lesson-learned” reviews.
  • Vendor Management: Manage the execution of vendor contracts and ensure adherence to contract provisions.

Required Qualifications:
  • Education/Certifications:
    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required.
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of project management experience required.
  • Competencies and Skills:
    • Autonomous work with solid leadership competencies; ability to organize and lead others towards common outcomes and execution.
    • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to analyze and solve complex problems; initiative to plan and execute as assigned; meet project budget, schedule, scope, and risk targets.
    • Understanding of business models and project impacts on business strategy.
    • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills; ability to effectively communicate project vision and impact on business strategy.
    • Assessment of team members’ strengths and developmental needs; proactive in seeking feedback and driving personal improvement.
    • Experience in risk and issue management; performing impact analysis and prioritization; and effective reporting of impact and status.
    • Desired experience with Cloud service provider migration work, including dependency management, business unit coordination, and facilitation of testing, remediation, and business acceptance.
    • Experience with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
